They spent nearly $5 million to target and defeat Levin, far more than was spent by any other group. Something is profoundly wrong in our political system when a handful of billionaires, spend millions of dollars, to defeat progressive candidates.
The way to stop AIPAC’s efforts, is to: 1) demand that the Democratic party do something to stop this theft of democracy; and 2) work like hell for the candidates who are pro-Palestine and beat the machine.
What will it take for Democratic leadership to cry foul? It’s ultimately toxic for the party leadership to tacitly welcome a group currently endorsing a Republican who compared Democrats to Nazis.
In the name of supporting Israel, the lobbying group has created a new super PAC that is only too happy to boost candidates that threaten our democracy.
As a Jew, an Israeli citizen, and a professional lobbyist (ahem, activist), I speak from personal experience when I say that AIPAC is tremendously effective, and the lubricant that makes its operation hum is dollar, dollar bills.
